RE: Ariel Anderssen The Colour of Anger

Often when we come up with the ideas for photosets we assemble ingredients like rope style, clothes and location, then we create characters, then we figure out why that character has got tied up in that situation and how she feels about it. For this photoset we worked backwards. We started with the emotion: Anger. And everything else came from that, including a deliberately looser and messier than usual shooting style to allow a hint of subject movement to amp up the energy. And just briefed Ariel that whoever tied her up and why, she was very angry about it indeed. I really like the result- must try results-based actor direction a bit more often, even though it is one of the classic no-no's of directing actors!
