On balance, it probably wasn't the smartest of movies to try to launch a palace coup against the soon-to-be-crowned king, even if you are the already-crowned princess.
It turns out that the nobles might back you despite being adopted, and the people might back you because you've been acting cute for a decade and have won their
hearts. But if the soon-to-be king has been fighting with the army for most of that decade, trying to hold on to the Western provinces, he might just have a
stronger hand when the politics gets real. Still, he can see the value of a paper alliance as readily as anyone, and this cage is small, but it's not exactly
the palace dungeons. Maybe he'll take the "royal marriage to adopted sister to re-unite the kingdom" ploy at face value....
