The contestants are gathered for the grand finale of the 2018 Great British Fine Art Nude Pose Off! Returning after last year's controversial

absence is past champion Ariel Anderssen, back to compete with arch-rival Sophia Smith, last year's champion. And rounding out the field is

newcomer Ayla Rose who has impressed us all through the qualifying heats!

Each contestant gets just 10 shots in each round to impress the judges with her skills as a fine art nude model. Will Sophia's combination

of poised poses and uncompromising attitude survive being restricted in tight ropes? Will Ariel's famous icy resolve melt in the heat of competition?

Will new-comer Ayla find the ropes a step too far beyond her comfort zone, lacking the editorial experience of the two ex-champions?

Each round sees the addition of an extra strand of rope, and the final challenges each model to decide on the placement of the last rope for themselves. Will

they opt for freedom of movement, to allow their final 10 poses to have the most variety? Or will they choose purity of concept and select a more

restrictive bondage position?

Hywel's note: this fun video came about following a conversation Ayla and I had on set the day before about reality TV shows and competitions. It was

just a throw-away line, but the idea of a Fine Art Nude Posing competition stuck in my head. So the next day I had to try it out! We decided to shoot it in

the older style- multiple cameras, one rolling take. That way we could shoot the stills which were needed "in character" anyway, and Kate and I could both be

in the film without needing to man cameras. We opted for Steve's two GoPros which as you can see have come a long way in image quality these days.

Unfortunately we screwed up and only got one camera, so the view is a bit more "fly on the wall" than reality TV camera hopping, but I think it works really well!

The sound's a bit muddier than we'd have got from the RED and external mic, but we just couldn't have shot this in this style with the RED at all. So horses for courses and all that. I liked the results so much that I bought a GoPro 6 as soon as we got back from the trip. Ariel's going to buy one too, because we do miss the "hit record and let's go" freedom of multi-cam for some storylines.

Oh I should just add a note of praise for the ladies' acting abilities. It took Ayla a few minutes to get into the generally bitchiness of the characters

(Ariel and Sophia being old hands at playing thoroughly vile model characters on screen), and at the end she said the hardest thing was to keep saying mean

things when what she'd wanted to do was gush about how fantastic everyone's art nude poses had been. I'm sure RE members realise that the characters you see

on screen are a million miles from the friendly, collegiate, professional reality of having a location shoot with Kate, Ariel, Sophia and Ayla. Thank you

everyone for being willing to be absolutely horrible to each other on-camera!
