Defiant beauty Ariel is brought back to the block to be sold to a new owner- because she slew her previous captor by inciting him to
such ardour that he expired of a heart attack! Once a kidnap victim, she is now a proud slave, challenging all prospective purchasers-
are you man enough to own me?
This was the last set we shot for RE on our trip to Fuerteventura. Ariel had so wanted to shoot something in the famous sand-dunes
on the island, but our hotel had been right down at the opposite tip, and we'd wimped out of the three-plus hour round trip all week.
But we had to go that way to get our flight back, so we got up early and checked out to make sure we had enough time to squeeze in a
couple of hours shooting on the dunes before we had to catch our flight.
Photographically, I'd been a bit flustered and consequently played it safe for the first set we shot here ("Desert Slave Sold"). Still a bit flustered, I didn't do the greatest of jobs on the rope rig for this one, so we had to do a bit of a reverse and re-tie, which
Ariel kindly didn't rib me about. But hooray, it worked out well and as it was the last set of the trip I knew I didn't have to play safe- we'd already got a set in the dunes with standard focal lengths, nice fill light from the ringflash, nude in metal, all the bankable, reliable stuff that's sensible to do before you start crawling around on the floor for funky angles.
I'm really pleased with the way these came out. The ones towards the end of the set which have Ariel and the rocks and the deep, deep blue of the sky especially I think are really striking. Thank you for being my muse for so many years, Ariel!
